Seems like all year we are waiting on Christmas; then the next thing you know, you look up and it’s a week away. Christmas is my favorite holiday, mostly because of what we are celebrating. But also it’s the time we get to spend with our family; catching up on the whole year and the exciting stuff we tried to live through.
Usually we talk about those special people that have passed on and what they’d be doing or saying about things. Mamma Janet and Sara always round up some crazy words for a charades game, like Mojave Desert or Leaning Tower of Pisa. Oh, dad is so funny to watch. This year, Christmas seems, even more special with both, mom and dad surviving open heart surgery.
I’m 34, and it feels like just yesterday all my nieces and nephews were just babies; now they are driving to Christmas, getting married, and having kids of their own. Christmas just gets twice as good after you get married, takes us a week of scheduling to make all the parties. The McCoy’s party and Best’s Family functions are 10 hours apart, door to door, so we become professional truck drivers around Christmas time. Sara and I don’t have any kids of our own, so we get to go all out for the others, the whole truck packed full of presents for the 25 nieces and nephews.
Well, hope you all enjoy family, friends, egg nog, pecan pie, and turkey, but be sure and give thanks! We are so blessed with each other; I think if I took anything from The Amazing Race is to be thankful of where we live and what we have!
